Fari came to us after having seen numerous therapists and specialists for two years. He had been suffering with thoracic pain (pain in the middle of his back). Various tests, including tests on his heart and lungs, had been unable to reveal the reason for his pain. On examination we determined that Fari’s problem was due to stiffness and tension in his mid thoracic spine. The reason why he had not responded to previous treatment was that his problem involved taut, fibrous bands of tissue in the deepest muscles along his spine. These muscles were very hard to reach with “hands only massage” and unresponsive to manipulation (clicking). We used a regime of precise intramuscular acupuncture (dry needling) and instrument assisted deep tissue massage (medical massage) to release Fari’s tension and chronic pain.
