This routine begins with the client lying face down whilst the therapist releases tension in common trigger points around the top of the shoulders using acupressure style massage. Following this the client lies on their back whilst muscles at the top of the shoulders and neck are given a thorough tension relieving stretch and massage. The muscles around the shoulder blades and upper back are then given a final loosening with deep, slow relaxing massage strokes. This routine can significantly help relieve and prevent tension associated with stiff knotted tight shoulders and repetitive strain injury (RSI) – both of which are common complaints in people spending a lot of time at a computer.
